A quote by Stephen R. Covey comes to mind when describing the journey of JS Jacobs and Associates Incorporated. Steven Jacobs was an auditor who, in 2001, came to the realisation that he was not living up to his personal promise to provide for his family to the best of his potential. That commitment saw him start what was to become a prosperous family-run auditing business, JS Jacobs and Associates, Built on old-school family values, JS Jacobs is founded on three core principles: communication, integrity and authenticity his dedication to which led to the building of solid, long-term relationships with both clients and employees.
In 2012, Steven’s daughter, Désirée, who had worked for Deloitte both locally and in America, joined her father's company and took on the role of Audit Manager.
Steven Booyens joined JS Jacobs and Associates in 2015 after successfully working his way up in the credit industry to a financial analyst position for a group of companies.
In June 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Steven Jacobs passed away unexpectedly.
In the midst of their bereavement, Désirée and Steven Booyens were faced with a quandary: As JS Jacobs and Associates was a sole proprietorship, all employees were effectively unemployed.
Désirée and Steven looked to the future, and JS Jacobs and Associates Incorporated was born.
Désirée and Steven Booyens were passionate about continuing the legacy that her father left behind. Steven Jacobs had built his long-lasting business relationships on unswerving commitment to ethical, above-board compliance, sound knowledge and expertise, as well as a desire to mentor his clients to their highest success. Désirée and Steven had learned from the best.

In the new business, Désirée and Steven decided to embrace technology and strive to be environmentally friendly, by going paperless. Technology and resources form an integral part of the business.
They focused on digitizing all their accounting clients to cloud-based systems, where they can have immediate access to critical information needed for their cash-flow and business decisions.
These processes make use of Artificial Intelligence, which has dramatically streamlined the auditing and accounting landscape and added significant value to JS Jacobs and Associates Inc’s services, while saving time and costs and improving efficiency.
Through training, implementation of new systems and personal growth, Désirée and Steven were able to turn JS Jacobs and Associates around to be a more sustainable business and to build on Steven Jacobs’ legacy.
In honour of that legacy, Désirée and Steven have kept the old-school family values within JS Jacobs and Associates Inc, building long-lasting relationships with their clients and staff and treating them like family.

As a SAICA Training Office, the firm is forming and creating young individuals into the leaders of tomorrow. Désirée’s passion is to sign off new CA(SA) 's by nurturing in them a love for the auditing profession. The high-quality training programme at JS Jacobs & Associates Inc, which is based on her own corporate audit experience across a diverse client base, and the exclusive one-on-one training provided, makes JS Jacobs & Associates Inc stand out from other small audit firms.
